It seems to me that the first two movies were just tryouts. After four year of trial and error and spending literally few hundred millions Bay seems to have achieved hist goal. Transformers: Dark of the Moon is what all of us have been waiting for. Surely after giving some depth to the characters, including the autobots and decepticons, simplifying the story and at the same time having some kick ass effects Transformers:Dark of The Moon gives a a mindblowing experience for the viewer and it surely outscores Bay’s previous two tries.
With a new girlfriend played by Rosie Huntington-Whitely “Carly”, Shia Lebeouf “Sam” enters the movie looking for a new job. Carly Spencer meanwhile has a powerful position in the company of Dylan Gould. Needless to say Sam is desperate, yet in his heart longing for a chance to live like the old days, helping the autobots.
His long dreamed moment comes when he is confronted by another employee in a job position he just recieved. He (Ken Jeong) gives him info about the space program of the United States of the sixties, how they discovered a ship on the Dark side of The Moon (hence the name Transformers : Dark of The Moon). Megatron is after these artifacts and is ready to face Optimus prime and his new ‘ally’ Sentinel Prime. On the human side of the story, Sam has to convince his old friend John Turturro “Agent Simmons” and Charlotte Mearing to leave him help his autobot allies.
We of course felt some kind of incompleteness regarding the first Transformers and Revenge Of The Fallen was just horrible, on the other hand, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon is an epiphany compared to them. The trained will have the feeling that the change was not only with the actor Megan Fox but the whole directors crew made a shift. Now we have a good set up, a simple yet effective storyline, a reason for a war and BOOM, great effects.
Chicago is destroyed. Building fall down, crumble. People are blown up. Alien spaceships make a huge chaos while blowing up enormous buildings making the city look like a war zone. Everything seems to be perfectly fitting for the style of Bay, and yet a great difference which makes Transformers: Dark Of The Moon so different and much more brilliant compared to the the former movies. We can see the funny and out of place patriotism, huge machines talking about freedom and duty ,however, this time it doesn’t seem to matter. Knowing the outrageous style of Bay we cannot be caught of guard now, he cannot surprise us with his crazy creative choices.
The cast plays in style and the all the actors are top notch. Some of the earlier characters are set aside to give space to other actors, and the new hot babe Carly has an intelligent air with her British accent.
Seems like the Bay did the impossible. I never though that I would but right now I wonder what is next. What comes next after Transformers: Dark Of The Moon? As long as they use the same formula again it surely will be a great entertainment for everybody!
